Ladies, do you ever feel like you’re always on the hunt for healthy snacks that you and your kids will love? You know, the kind that's not just nutritious but also delicious and easy to take on the go? Well, I've got just the thing for you! I'm literally OBSESSED with these Easy Medjool Date Protein Balls and I know you'll LOVE them too! This recipe is everything you've been looking for in a healthy snack – it's easy, delicious, and perfect for a quick snack, nice fuel for before or after a run, or even prep these bad boys before a road trip!

Why Medjool Dates?

So why Medjool dates you may ask? Well, compared to other dates, Medjool Dates are so juicy and big, making them the perfect base for these protein date balls. Sometimes if you get other types of dates, they are tiny, kind of dry and honestly not even comparable to Medjool… (I sound like a “date” snob right now but honestly you’ll get the hype once you’ve tried them! haha) They're also packed with natural sugars, fiber, and several essential nutrients, including potassium and magnesium, making them a nutritious choice for a sweet snack. Literally ZERO guilt when you eat these, ladies. You can order a big bag of organic Medjool dates off Amazon actually!

Can I Swap Out The Type of Nuts Used for These Medjool Date Protein Balls?

Absolutely! This Medjool Date Protein Balls recipe is super versatile and honestly why I love it so much. You can swap out the cashews for almonds, walnuts, pecans, or whatever kind of nuts you prefer. The important thing is to use raw, unsalted nuts to keep the snack healthy. SOOO many nuts are cooked in inflammatory oils like sunflower, or canola. Stay away from them, ladies! Look at the ingredients and choose the nuts that are solely the nuts…and choose organic if you can as well! I order a big bag from Terrasoul and store them in my fridge.

My favorite Medjool Date Protein Balls are made with cashews, BUT I also love the peanut and hazelnut ones as well.

But if you do want to order some protein powder ASAP, this is one of my favorite clean and organic protein brands and tastes great with this recipe.

Do I need a Food Processor For this Date Ball Recipe?

Yes, you will need a food processor for this Medjool Date Protein Ball Recipe. But It’s soooo worth it because this will become a new staple in your home! Here is a link to a really good one on Amazon with high reviews. You’ll want to get one big enough to fit the entire recipe (sometimes if you have a tiny food processor, you’ll need to half the recipe so it mixes up adequately).

What If My Date Ball “Dough” Is Too Dry or Wet?

If your date ball “dough” is too dry, just add more Medjool dates! If it's too wet, add some more nuts! The key is to achieve a consistency that allows you to easily roll the mixture into balls within your hands (palms).

Easy Medjool Date Protein Balls Recipe

Here's the Easy Medjool Date Protein Balls Recipe you've been waiting for:

  • 2 cups organic Medjool Dates (pitted)

  • 2 cups organic cashews

  • 2 tablespoons of vanilla extract

  • A couple pinches of sea salt

  • 2 tablespoons of organic cacao powder

  • 2 tablespoons of chocolate organic protein powder

Your date and nut mixture should look like this once you smush it up from the food processor. From here, you will grab small bits to make the small date protein balls.

Step 1: Put all these ingredients in a food processor and mix until the date ball dough is nicely mixed and can be packed together to make a ball. Start with the nuts on the bottom and then put the dates in a circle so they are evenly spaced. Depending on your food processor, you can put half the dates in at the first and then slowly dropped the remaining half of the dates as it all mixes up. Then on top I add the cacao powder, protein powder, vanilla extract and sea salt. If you try to make a ball, and it's not sticking together, mix it for a little longer and/or throw in a couple extra juicy dates!

Step 2: Dump the nut-date mixture onto the counter and grab a small bit and roll in your hands to form small 2 oz-ish sized balls.

Step 3: Then roll your date balls into chopped nuts (or coconut).

Step 4: Put them on a plate and let sit in the fridge to harden. I store them there until I want to enjoy them! Sometimes I put them back into the date container for storage, or you can put them in a big glass mason jar OR find tiny cute bags to put 3 in for nice grab-n-go snacks for you or your kids.
